I did not get enough sleep last night, so I am still tired. Jerrad loves Sunday naps, but I am just not much of a napper. They usually make me feel worse. It makes me sad because sleep always sounds so nice!
Regardless, today has been pretty relaxing. We got up, and I made breakfast…garlicky eggs with cheese (vegan mozzarella for Jerrad) and toast. If you haven’t tried the new garlic dip from Costco, it is so good! It is garlicky, salty, and creamy! Yum! (That’s what she said!) It works as a dip, a mix in, or a spread!
We tried a new church today. We made the decision to leave our previous church back in December, and have struggled to find a new one. But I think today was a hit! We went to The Church (seriously, that’s the name) in South Oklahoma City. I attended The Church for a few months before Jerrad and I started dating, but they have changed locations since then. I like the new place. It is a much better parking situation. At the old place, if you didn’t get there on time, the spots were gone and I’m not sure they had another option. So, for people like my husband who function with their own sense of time, the new location is great. Honestly, there could not be a better place for a church! That area is definitely a mission field. I’m excited to see if this is where God wants us.
This afternoon has been food and rest. It is so nice to just have a day at home. We try to treat Sunday as a true Sabbath. Most Sundays, not this one, but most Sundays I try to turn my phone off. A break from electronics is so needed. Our brains and eyes were not meant to be so attached to screens! When I take the time to put my phone and computer away, it really helps me function better. I feel more rested, and I have a deeper connection with my husband because we have REAL conversations! It has also helped my relationship with God. I’m trying to read more Christian life books and devotionals this year, and Sunday has become my day to do that. Again, it doesn’t always happen. But I’m proud of myself for trying! I would encourage you all to do the same. Pick an area of your life that you know could be better, and find one small way to help yourself. Don’t look for perfection. That will just make you miserable. Try different things. You never know what might happen! I challenge you to pick something and try it for a month. You have to give new things time. Very rarely can you make a clear determination from one try. Except for mushrooms. You don’t even need to try them. Just a quick whiff, and that should tell you all that you need to know. Walk away. Walk far away! And then try something worthwhile for a month, and let me know how it goes! I would love to hear from you!
