‘The Postman Always Rings Twice’ Review

This movie was SUPER controversial for 1946. Very risque for its time. It is an unfortunate story of two unhappy people making people around them, each other, and ultimately themselves suffer. The acting was superb! Lana Turner! John Garfield, whose filmography I now have to study. My favorite parts of the movie were the sign that says ‘Chicken dinner, $1.25’ and the quote ‘He used to be a dick, but not anymore’. I’m unsure if that was as funny in 1946 as it is now, but I laughed.

While the acting was great, and the last two minutes somewhat redeem the first 111 minutes, it isn’t my preferred style of movie. There is too much unhappiness and selfishness. 2/10. Come back tomorrow for more! I will also have one of my normal blog posts posted tomorrow. But it’s almost midnight and my husband is snoring, so I’m out. Good night!
