The OKs of May 2nd

Birthdaying Day TWO!! Today was a long one. We had to put our dishwasher out to pasture. It was time. She is a 2011 model, and just isn’t keeping up anymore. I blame Jerrad’s two roommates from before we were married. I’ve never met two bigger slobs in my life. But, I digress. Regardless of who is at fault, the thing needs to be replaced. So, if anyone has a dishwasher brand that they love, let me know.

The other thing that happened today was that Peacock put out ‘The Tattooist of Auschwitz’. I read the book last year, and have an unhealthy obsession with everything Holocaust related, and so, obviously, I will be watching it! They are releasing it in hour-long episodes, and I just finished the first one. Emotionally, I do not think I can handle more than one episode at a time. It is so much to digest. Such senseless cruelty against the Jews. God’s chosen people. And, if you’ve read the Old Testament, you know nothing good comes from attacking God’s chosen people. If you are one of those people who believes ‘We’re all God’s chosen people’ you’re wrong. Go read Genesis. If you believe Israel didn’t exist before 1948, you’re wrong. Go read Genesis. If you are one of the ‘protesters’ on a college campus right now, you’re a moron, a spoiled child, and should be disowned by your family. As Mushu says, ‘Dishonor! Dishonor on your whole family!’ (Tony Bancroft, Barry Cook, et al. Mulan. USA,1998) I digress…This story is different from most Holocaust stories because it isn’t just about trying to survive senseless cruelty. It is a love story. This is usually where I would say ‘Barf’, but it is hard to do that when people are shot just because. I won’t spoil it for anyone. In my opinion, you should read the book before you watch the series, but you do you. I know this topic isn’t for everyone, but I think it is a really important one to be educated on, especially given the current senseless and cruel attack on the Jews that is happening in our world right now. #bringthemhomenow

But my FAVORITE thing that happened today is that my husband VACUUMED!!! Vacuuming is probably the thing our house needs the most, but is my least favorite thing to do. But I love how everything looks when it is done. And today my husband did almost the whole house! I’m so thankful! It would be so easy for him to say, ‘I work, you don’t. You should be doing all of the housework’. But he doesn’t! He helps out so much, and it is wonderful. It makes it easier to like him when he spends $1,000.00 on snacks in one month.

Along with doing the cookbook that I talked about yesterday, we have also started using Kroger Delivery. Every week, I go through the recipes that I’m going to make, and do an order. Kroger isn’t local to us here, but we do have a distribution center. That means that the only in-store grocery shopping we have to do is whatever Kroger doesn’t deliver from my order. It has honestly helped cut our grocery bill a lot…minus the snacks that have taken over my dining room table…So, I suppose my options are to get a bigger table, or a less snacky husband…Meh. Both of those sound like a lot of work. I’ll just wait until we eat through everything. Who needs family dinner at the table anyway? We don’t have kids, so there’s no risk of trauma. Huh…I wonder if studies would show a correlation between kids who didn’t have family dinner every night, and kids who ended up a keffiyeh-wearing moron, sleeping in a tent, about to be expelled and disowned…interesting…
