The OKs of Peppersloth in Ohio

Hey All! Peppersloth again! Annie and I traveled to Ohio this past weekend to surprise Annie’s dad for Father’s Day. And BOY, was he surprised! Annie was very proud of herself, which never ends well for me. But getting to Ohio was QUITE the adventure!

Annie had Saturday night off from work, so she came home and slept for a few hours before leaving. Once she had the car loaded, we had to run some errands. One of which was the pharmacy, where the pharmacist wanted Annie to wait an HOUR before getting her prescription. I’ve seen Annie look at people like they’ve lost their minds, but this was probably one of the best! It ended up taking twenty minutes, and Annie got coffee while she waited. Thank God for coffee. I don’t think I could live with Annie without it! So, once we got her prescription and coffee, we got on the road! It was smooth sailing until about 3am. Ten minutes outside of the Ohio border, and two hours from home, Annie hit something and blew a tire. Do you know how many tires this girl has blown? You would think she was trying to set a record or something! Ridiculous! Anyway! She was able to pull off at an exit, and pull into a gas station. Annie texted her mom, and Johnstown mom, to let them know she was safe. And then, for the fun of it, she argued with her mom about whether or not she had a spare…she did. Annie’s mom is ALWAYS right! Except for the one time when she said that COVID-19 ‘wouldn’t be that bad’. She was wrong that time.

Anyway! Annie waited until about 5am, and then emptied the trunk (because of course she hasn’t unpacked her car since she moved) and found the spare! Point for Annie’s mom! Annie called AAA, and they came right away! Indiana AAA is MUCH faster than Ohio…or maybe it was just because it was 6am by then. The guy changed the tire, we got gas, and were back on the road by 7:00am…at a MUCH slower pace! We FINALLY got to Annie’s parents, surprised her dad, and then went to bed. By the time we woke up, it was time to get ready for the crazy train known as Annie’s nieces and nephew.

These kids are some of the best! I’m not sure how, but the middle one inherited Annie’s volume. I think I lost some hearing. But it was hilarious to watch the older girls try to fix Annie’s feet, and then argue about that ridiculous bedroom. The 6-year-old was also horrified to find out that she’s been alive for six years, instead of fifteen. Also, I know people say you shouldn’t use sarcasm with kids, but these kids speak it better than Annie does!

Monday, Annie’s dad took her car to get the tires fixed. And then found the windshield that’s been cracked for eight months. If you were looking for a place to say ‘Oh, Annie!’ now would be it! Then we went to see Annie’s Johnstown people, which of course meant a trip to Whit’s! Then a quick stop at Kroger turned into a hair dyeing adventure…Annie’s, not mine! Now we are sitting at a Panera, because Annie has decided she HAS to go to Panera once a week now. I think she thinks this counts as socializing…it doesn’t! She is really productive while she’s there, so I suppose that’s something. But someone really does need to explain to Annie that eavesdropping on other people’s conversation is not the same as actually be part of a conversation!

Road trips with Annie are never boring…by the way, we still have to drive back to OK…pray for me! This may not go ok!
